     Nikos Mattheos is a periodontist, researcher and an academic teacher. He is currently 2nd Century Fund Visiting Professor of Implant Dentistry at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand and affiliated with the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. He maintains private practice focused in oral rehabilitation and implant dentistry in Hong Kong. 

     His research evolves around complications of implant therapy and peri-implantitis, bone regeneration, computer assisted implant surgery, patient reported outcomes measures in implant therapy and educational effectiveness, in particular of on-line teaching environments. His research is disseminated through more than 150 publications in international peer reviewed journals and he has received numerous awards, including the International Association of Dental Research researcher’s award in 2003 and 2013 and the Andre Schroeder Award in 2014 and 2021. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Prosthodontics, past editor-in-chief of the ITI Academy and member of several editorial boards.

     He is the head of the ITI Education Committee, member of the ITI Board of Directors and a long serving ITI Fellow. He is considered a world-class expert in online learning and has designed and conducted online and face-to-face courses in Implant Dentistry in many parts of the world.

     Having graduated from the University of Athens, he has a MSc in Health Informatics and a PhD in Periodontology from the University of Malmö, Sweden, a MASc in Periodontology, Fixed Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry from the University of Bern, Switzerland.
